First things first. What you will need to do "most" of my hair styles.
TV (or other entertainment)
Cute little girl.
LOTS of little elastics. Sally's has the best ones by far, you get a huge bag for $.99! You will also need a comb with a pointy end, and lots of water.
The above picture is to illustrate what happens when Daddy takes out elastics. She has a permanent mowhawk. It takes a lot of effort to tame those little hairs.
So lets get started on this "Round N' Round"!
I parted her hair into 4 crisscross sections.
There were 2 small sections and 2 larger sections because of how her hair has grown in, so I eventually ended up splitting the larger sections again. This would make 6 all together (I think.)
Next split the bottom of the section and put it in a pony tail, but don't do it too close to her scalp. Leave a little room so you can do a topsy thing (I'll explain later).
I guess now is later. I should have gotten a picture of how I do mine, but you get an explanation for now. Stick the end of the pointy comb between the elastic and her scalp. This should create a little pocket or opening. GENTLY push the elastic through the hole upward. This should give you the above picture look.
Now split the pony tail into 2 sections and pull it tight, this should push the elastic closer to her little scalp and give you the final look you want with this section. Get familiar with these, because I use them. A LOT. They help keep all those baby hairs in place!
Next grab the upper part of the same section and twist it. We are going to do a bun with it.
So just keep twirling until you get the above bun. Then just wrap an elastic around the bottom of it. I left some little hairs hanging out for a little extra style. You could also do a messy bun here if you wanted. (It took me several practices to get them right on her.)
Keep doing the above steps until you are all the way around her little head.
See. Almost done.
You may want to use some hairspray to keep it all in place. Then just have fun and curl the ends if you want, or let them just do their own thing.
Ta' Da'! Congratulations! Now go enjoy your cup of coffee or diet Coke.
