Chopped.

Now that summer is almost over and we have been to the pool several times and the heat has destroyed Tootsie's hair I decided it was time for a cut.  Not just a trim, but an actual cut.  I think she said she took off about 2 inches!

Tootsie loves getting her hair cut.  I am not sure if it is the cool cars she gets to sit in or the balloon and sucker she gets after.  I told her I wanted to take her picture, she said "Ok Mom, stay right there."  So I did, she ran and got a few shoes a gorilla and a piano to have with her in the picture.  Weird child. 

But back to the haircut. 

It is pretty short, but I think I actually wanted the back a little shorter in layers.  We will see how it goes tomorrow with my styling. 

All in all I really like it and hope it helps keep her a bit cooler these last few dog days of summer.

Rock On!

We ALL know how my girl likes to P-A-R-T-Y!  This style says it best.

Sorry, I didn't get step by step pictures of how it was done.  However, this is one EASY style! 

Last night I parted her hair into about 6 different random sections, put them in pony tails then braided them.  Left them over night and took them all out this morning. 

Then I simply pulled her hair up into the classic mowhawk.  Add a little hairspray or mousse and there you go! 

This is my rock and roll party girl.  Including her crazy crooked mouth dog Ziggy.

Triceratops

This one should probably have a different name....maybe Princess Leia or something?

However, we were watching Dinosaur Train when we did it.  So triceratops stays.

Start by parting a section across the top of her head, then divide it into 3 sections. 

Put each of the 3 sections into elastics and pull it under to look like the above picture. 

Next make a section on the bottom part of her head.  It should resemble the top section.  Again, divide it into 3 sections and pull the elastics under themselves. 

Here comes the hard part to explain.  Take the section between the two rows (middle part) and you are going to divide it into 6 sections.  So you will have twice as many elastics in the middle row as you do the other rows.  Take the top row and the bottom row and split the hair in the elastics and pull half of each one into the middle elastic and make a bun.

See, split the elastics and join them into a pony tail and make a messy bun or a swirly bun, or anything you want. 

Just keep going until you get all the buns you want! 

It kinda looks like a triceratops. 

Or a beautiful Princess Leia.

Girlhawk!

Here it is.  The girlhawk!

This one is easy peasy.   Simply start making sections and pulling them to the middle, then secure them with a little rubber band.

Keep doing it until you get to the end. 

I kinda like the next picture, maybe I will have to think of a fun way to leave it like that? 

Then just take another elastic and go over the rest of the pony tails again to make a messy bun. 

Spray it a few times with some hairspray and you are good to go! 

However, I will warn you not to go to Walmart.  On our adventure there we met a nice old lady who didn't approve of this hair style. (Mission accomplished!)  She simply couldn't understand why I would want a beautiful little girl to have a hair style similar to a boy's mowhawk.  Funny stuff. 

As you can see, she definitely had the attitude to go along with this style.  She kept that attitude ALL day.  Lucky me.

I must say though, I love this style.  It just screams personality to me.
